Privacy Policy

Voice Student Portal (the “WVS Student” app on iOS, and this website) is a private studio app that helps voice students manage their repertoire, lessons, practice materials, and communication with their teacher. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

• Profile information: your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, mailing address, and an optional profile photo.
• Guardian information: for students under 18, a parent or guardian's name, phone number, and email address.
• Lesson and studio content: your assigned songs, lesson schedule, calendar events, messages with your teacher, notes, and files you upload (including practice audio recordings and images).
• Device and usage data: a push notification token for your device (if you enable notifications), crash reports and performance data, and anonymous usage analytics (which screens are used). Analytics are linked only to an internal user ID — never to your name or email.

How we use it

• To provide the service: showing your repertoire, scheduling lessons, delivering messages and reminders, and storing your practice materials.
• To keep the app reliable: diagnosing crashes and performance problems.
• To contact a parent or guardian about lessons when the student is a minor.

We do not sell your information, show advertising, or track you across other apps and websites.

Who processes your data

• Supabase — secure database and file hosting for all studio data.
• Sentry — crash and error reporting (personal details are stripped before sending).
• PostHog — anonymous usage analytics, linked only to an internal user ID.
• Apple / Expo — delivery of push notifications you've opted into.

Children's privacy

The app is used by voice students of all ages, including children, as part of their enrollment in the studio. We collect a child's information only as needed to provide lessons, with the knowledge and consent of a parent or guardian obtained through the studio enrollment process. Parents or guardians may review or request deletion of their child's information at any time using the contact below.

Data retention and deletion

Your information is kept while you are an active student. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your login and removes your personal information (name, contact details, photo, guardian details, and uploaded files); lesson history is retained in anonymized form for studio records. You can also request deletion by contacting us directly.

Security

All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored with access controls so that only you and your teacher can see your information.

Changes to this policy
